Devon Roulston
Is an artist, musician and woodworker based out of Stratford, ON, Canada. Her paintings express emotions and psychological concepts through the use of colour, shape and form. She looks inward at what she's currently experiencing or struggling with, and lets those thoughts and feelings inform her work. It could be joy, it could be pain. The paintings are her meditations, her therapy. Whether it's a landscape depiction or pure abstraction, she uses the foundational concepts of light and dark and the presence or absence of colour to invoke a particular concept, feeling or emotion. Her works give the viewer permission to take a moment out of their day to reflect, feel engaged, and be immersed in their individual and unique experiences.
She holds a Bachelor degree in Percussion Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University, studied acrylic painting with Scott Fillier in 2004, and wood engraving with Gerard Brender à Brandis in 2006. She constantly draws inspiration from human psychology, nature, both micro and macro, and artists such as Emily Carr, Tom Thompson, Mark Rothko, Chandler Woodfin, Scott Fillier and many others.

Collector testimonial...
"There were only two pieces of art that I really liked in the gallery where I purchased yours. The other was a very traditional piece of landscape. I chose yours because, it was original. It all came from your heart and creative mind. I love the shapes in your piece and the colours. Bright colours evoke positive feelings. It is in my bedroom and I wake up to it each morning. A great start to every day." - Pat
